Shofuku-ji Temple is said to be associated with Hojo Tokimune during the Kamakura period, and its most famous feature is the National Treasure Jizo-do Hall (Sen-tai Jizo-do Hall) built in the Muromachi period. It's the only wooden National Treasure building in Tokyo, highly valued for its historical significance and architectural beauty. The interior is only open a few times a year, but its solemnity can be felt even from the exterior. It's within walking distance of Higashimurayama Station, and free parking is also available. While usually quiet and calm, the local anticipation during events like the Jizo Festival is palpable. Note that Goshuin (temple stamps) are limited to those on the Sayama 33 Kannon pilgrimage.
