Nishine Hachimangu Shrine is known for the spring that gave the town of Shizukuishi its name and a giant cedar tree in a primeval forest. It has a serene and solemn atmosphere, with the approach path bathed in dappled sunlight and the scent of cedar, and the sound of the mizukoto (water harp) being particularly memorable. Access involves a steep climb from the torii gate but is well-maintained. It appears to be deeply revered by the local community.
