This is where the Akishima whale fossil was discovered, but it is now a developed riverbed with little remaining trace of the past. The fossils themselves are exhibited at the City Education and Welfare Comprehensive Center and the Gunma Prefectural Natural History Museum. In some areas, explanatory signs provide information about the past. The riverbed is often used for BBQs by families, and the cherry blossom-lined path is lively in spring. Signs warning of water accidents are also visible.
